In My Mind Vol. 1

SUPPORT

ok first things first. every artist needs support.you need support from your family, friends, allies, enemies, radio stations, hood youngins, so on and so forth.funny thing is, you never know who has your back or whos trying to stab you in your back.i heard from a random man on the bus "a person has to be close to you to stab you in the back"that is so true.be careful of who you let in your inner circle.don't be so quick to put somebody on, or let them rep your team.that support is only good for a HOT SECOND. they might not be in the picture tomorrow.

rappers, dont be so quick to do tracks wit a shady guy, because most likely he's going to ride off of your clout. where's your support in that? rappers will do that. they see a artist with more potential than them and will beg to get on a track with them. they would push that song to the max as if it was theirs. saying this is a track with artist B featuring artist A. knowing damn well it's artist A featuring artist B...that's not the kind of support you want. shady, shiesty, fake artist always get pointed out.

producers, dont be so quick to give away your beats, because most likely, that artist isn't going to shout you out or give you your props. it seems like we all forgot who created the sound for you to spit over. rappers *hardly* ever support their producers because beats are so easy to obtain...for FREE. they feel like "well im not going to pay you for this beat because i can go to "sound click" and download somebodies beats for free". they don't give two fucks about the producer and all the hard work he put into the beat. producers are actually the root the whole music industry. they set the trends for the clubs, on stage performances, and the latest sound. think about it, if all the producers in the world quit making beats, and all the rappers continued to spit, all you would hear is accapellas. NOT TOO APPEALING. you can only get away with it in ciphers. but even then you need a steady tempo.

GOOD support starts from your foundation with the person. "Greet 'em how you meet 'em". you will find that people you hardly know will support you before your closest freinds you had for the past 6 years would. reason why the ones closest to you WONT support you is because they get jealous. they see the progress you make, the success starting to roll in and they wouldnt dare support you and your movement. they feel you would have one up on them; be two steps ahead. its only natural that the ones closest to you are the ones thats most jealous of you. look at the story of kane and able. kane was jealous because able was praised more than he was. so out of jealousy, kane killed his own brother.but i thought that no matter what, your BROTHER was supposed to support you regardless of what the situation is; whether good or bad, right or wrong.

stay away from partnerships. if you can't do it all yourself, then refrain from starting a business as a partnership. never support somebody who doesn't support you and your cause. that should be RULE NUMERO UNO. in the lyrics of JAY-Z, "I can't vouch for you if you aint a part of this". ("Sweet" from the album American Gangster)to all artist out there, lyricist, producers, rappers, never support somebody who wouldnt support you in return. if he/ she can't return the favor to a equal amount, "Don't Waste Your Time" (one of my songs on my upcoming album titled Suit & Tie). the only exception i would make is one for the kids.

create your own circle of trustees and keep the head count to a diminutive number. you can have all the friends in the world, but out of of that large amount you can only count on 3 of them to support you.

thats all for now.

vol. 2 coming soon...
