So I'm pullin this black, and its like 14:35 in the AM. And I'm BANG'n Rich Boy. Feelin zooted by the black, I commense this thought.
I see the Hip-Hop community as a group of artist. We paint, sketch, sculpt, mold, and all that good ish. We write poems (songs) about what we're easily influenced by. Some poets aren't as skilled in delivering their visions. Some poets are gifted, Rhyming dynamo's. Their words appeal to our ears just like a fyne ass joint walkin down the street. All the guys hawkin and breakin necks to admire her beauty. That's how it is when it comes to rappers. The person with the most appealing lyrics, metaphors and word play is looked at and admired by most. Like all of a sudden he/ she is the illest alive.
Just close your eyes and picture every rapper from Bun B to Andre 3K, from Jay-Z to Ghostface. Picture them in the renaissance era. Draped in those poofy hats wit feathers jammed in the side. Wit those stockings n that shakespeare vest. Rockin a Prince purple blouse n shit. Picture that. Picture them writing songs back then. They're poets. They write and produce poems (songs) that attract the ppl who relate to them the most. Those ppl come out to see their play (a concert).
All of these rappers are poets...ugh artist in some kinda way. (It kills me to say that) But they all write poems about what they feel is most important to them.
Take Plies for example, lol (sorry I had to laugh). Plies spits about how many goons he has and how much pussy he claims he gets. That's what he is influenced by. That's what his life consist of. So its only obvious that he's going to write a poem (song) about it. Take Pharrell's CD "In My Mind" for example. He had some good cuts on there. But LITERALLY half of his CD was about women. A bunch of girl songs. That's what he was influenced by at the time.
Hey it sold. But that's what these poets are doing. We write about what we live...well the real poets anyway.
So I finished my black, put on a beat, and wrote a song.
I'm not a rapper I'M A HIP-HOP ARTIST!
Get it str8...
