"Radio Ready Mixtape" Drops November 23rd

Banquo's Highly Anticipated Mixtape titled "Radio Ready" Is Due to drop November 23rd, 2009.

This is Banquo's Definitive Project. The "Radio Ready Mixtape" is compiled of Crossover genres such as Pop/ Hip-Hop, Raggae/ Hip-Hop, Rock/ Hip-Hop, Hardcore/ Hip-Hop and more. Banquo experiments with different arrangements and sounds to establish and his own unique sound.

This project is called "Radio Ready" because Most, if not all of the songs deserve Radio Play. This is a playlist of Commercial Music Mixed with Lyricism. ((Something that none of us are getting now a days))

Banquo has Perfected the art of Playing the fence when it comes to lyrics. The Rhymes are Deep but simple enough for the common person to understand and recite. The beats Bang Boy Produced add emphasis to the feeling of the song giving it a harder impact on the listener.

"Radio Ready" features a live radio show from WPGC 95.5 with Donny Simpson as the Host. There a mini skits and clips from various shows over time. ((no i didnt get all of this i one day)) The Radio clips are supposed to correspond with the songs of the "Radio Ready Mixtape."

A LOT of hard work and lost sleep was put into this project.

Support Your DMV Artist!

sumtimes i feel like i act like KanYe with his temper tantrums and outrageous outburst. but fuck it, as humans, we have a right to show and express emotion. thats why God let us feel those feelings. ON THAT NOTE, IF YOU CANT STAND IT WHEN KANYE ACTS OUT, YOU PROBABLY WOULDNT WANT TO READ ANY FURTHER.

so lets talk about this little/ big thing called "Support".
we all have it, we all had it, we all want it.
im going to be speaking from a musical sense with moral standards to back me up.

i feel like i help support some of you lame ass rappers, wanna be rappers, and even you somewhat 'decent' artist. i feel like i give them chance after chance and come up short on the majority of the ppl i've come in contact with. backing that up with morals, help & suppport the up and coming artist because at one point in time you were in his/ her position. give them the benifit of the doubt and lend a helping hand.

seriously, i've worked with sum suck ass rappers, done songs with em, made beats for em, etc... but by me making their beats and writing songs with them, that technically counts as supporting them because im cotributing to their prime objective/ cause or w/e.

you think you really know ppl 'till it's time to do business and they have this whole new state of mind with a complete different set of ideas. i hate how everyone wants me to support them, but when i ask you for sum feedback or to do a fuckin feature, i get excuse after excuse. Prime example, i have a (brother) who is in a rap group. theyre pretty good. i get msgs constantly to come to their shows and download their singles and join their groups, follow them on their blogs n shit.... w/e. but as soon as i ask for a feature (a hook/ 16 bars, shit like that) they never come thru. none of em. i cant get em to return a phone call.

(my moral in that) i'd love to come see them at their shows but i'll be damned if i go to their show if they cant hold me down on a feature or download my single. you got me fucked up! people will support what they feel is most important to them or what they invest the majority of their feelings in. why do you think the villian always go for the super hero's girl?

now if i do so much for you wanna bees, lame rappers, and somewhat 'decent' artist, why is it that i dont get the same support that i gave you? why is it that i made your beat that you rappin over for your mixtape but i cant get you to drop a verse? oh i get it, i saw this in a movie one time. support can be lost at the blink of an eye or gained overnight by stardom.

you DMV nigguhs get shady on a brotha sumtimes. "despite your evil ways i still love you." didnt God say something like that?... but thats why nobody in this rap shit respect us/ support us/ love us. 'cuz we dont support each other. our word is no good to our brother next door, so what makes you think Cali is gonna love us? New York? Georgia? Texas? all of the rappers in those states support each other. WTF IS WRONG WIT THE DMV? there's too many of us to not be signed right now!

and 1 more thang...
wtf is up wit all this "inner circle shit". you nigguhs actin like its fuckin high school all over again! fuckin cheer leader cliks n shit! you cant see one rapper without the other. they dick ridin each other. excuse my expressions, but how can you justify not helping out a fellow emcee, washingtonian, musical artist, producer because you feel that it's beneath you to work with a not so..."established artist"? you BIG EGO nigguhs need sum fuckin humility in ya life.

so to everybody who supports me, i greatly appreciate it with all my heart. i am the artist i am because of you. im humble because of your support and feedback, comments, advice...

You Are...

Child-like you are...
Tom-boyish you are...
In a way, same in spirit like my mother you are...
Like a goddess you are...
Spiritual you are...
Flyy without wings but a angel you are...
Cold like a ice berg you are...
Like a tundra wind you are...
The aftermath of Katrina you are...
Mysterious you are...
Like a back road you are...
Tempting, exciting, but scary you are...
Flirtacious you are...
Like a schoolgirl in a skirt you are...
Bright and energetic you are...
Something special you are...
Like a daily double you are...
The universal answer to lifes questions you are...

Hip-Hop Poet

So I'm pullin this black, and its like 14:35 in the AM. And I'm BANG'n Rich Boy. Feelin zooted by the black, I commense this thought.
I see the Hip-Hop community as a group of artist. We paint, sketch, sculpt, mold, and all that good ish. We write poems (songs) about what we're easily influenced by. Some poets aren't as skilled in delivering their visions. Some poets are gifted, Rhyming dynamo's. Their words appeal to our ears just like a fyne ass joint walkin down the street. All the guys hawkin and breakin necks to admire her beauty. That's how it is when it comes to rappers. The person with the most appealing lyrics, metaphors and word play is looked at and admired by most. Like all of a sudden he/ she is the illest alive.
Just close your eyes and picture every rapper from Bun B to Andre 3K, from Jay-Z to Ghostface. Picture them in the renaissance era. Draped in those poofy hats wit feathers jammed in the side. Wit those stockings n that shakespeare vest. Rockin a Prince purple blouse n shit. Picture that. Picture them writing songs back then. They're poets. They write and produce poems (songs) that attract the ppl who relate to them the most. Those ppl come out to see their play (a concert).
All of these rappers are poets...ugh artist in some kinda way. (It kills me to say that) But they all write poems about what they feel is most important to them.
Take Plies for example, lol (sorry I had to laugh). Plies spits about how many goons he has and how much pussy he claims he gets. That's what he is influenced by. That's what his life consist of. So its only obvious that he's going to write a poem (song) about it. Take Pharrell's CD "In My Mind" for example. He had some good cuts on there. But LITERALLY half of his CD was about women. A bunch of girl songs. That's what he was influenced by at the time.
Hey it sold. But that's what these poets are doing. We write about what we live...well the real poets anyway.
So I finished my black, put on a beat, and wrote a song.
I'm not a rapper I'M A HIP-HOP ARTIST!
Get it str8...

In My Mind Vol. 1

SUPPORT

ok first things first. every artist needs support.you need support from your family, friends, allies, enemies, radio stations, hood youngins, so on and so forth.funny thing is, you never know who has your back or whos trying to stab you in your back.i heard from a random man on the bus "a person has to be close to you to stab you in the back"that is so true.be careful of who you let in your inner circle.don't be so quick to put somebody on, or let them rep your team.that support is only good for a HOT SECOND. they might not be in the picture tomorrow.

rappers, dont be so quick to do tracks wit a shady guy, because most likely he's going to ride off of your clout. where's your support in that? rappers will do that. they see a artist with more potential than them and will beg to get on a track with them. they would push that song to the max as if it was theirs. saying this is a track with artist B featuring artist A. knowing damn well it's artist A featuring artist B...that's not the kind of support you want. shady, shiesty, fake artist always get pointed out.

producers, dont be so quick to give away your beats, because most likely, that artist isn't going to shout you out or give you your props. it seems like we all forgot who created the sound for you to spit over. rappers *hardly* ever support their producers because beats are so easy to obtain...for FREE. they feel like "well im not going to pay you for this beat because i can go to "sound click" and download somebodies beats for free". they don't give two fucks about the producer and all the hard work he put into the beat. producers are actually the root the whole music industry. they set the trends for the clubs, on stage performances, and the latest sound. think about it, if all the producers in the world quit making beats, and all the rappers continued to spit, all you would hear is accapellas. NOT TOO APPEALING. you can only get away with it in ciphers. but even then you need a steady tempo.

GOOD support starts from your foundation with the person. "Greet 'em how you meet 'em". you will find that people you hardly know will support you before your closest freinds you had for the past 6 years would. reason why the ones closest to you WONT support you is because they get jealous. they see the progress you make, the success starting to roll in and they wouldnt dare support you and your movement. they feel you would have one up on them; be two steps ahead. its only natural that the ones closest to you are the ones thats most jealous of you. look at the story of kane and able. kane was jealous because able was praised more than he was. so out of jealousy, kane killed his own brother.but i thought that no matter what, your BROTHER was supposed to support you regardless of what the situation is; whether good or bad, right or wrong.

stay away from partnerships. if you can't do it all yourself, then refrain from starting a business as a partnership. never support somebody who doesn't support you and your cause. that should be RULE NUMERO UNO. in the lyrics of JAY-Z, "I can't vouch for you if you aint a part of this". ("Sweet" from the album American Gangster)to all artist out there, lyricist, producers, rappers, never support somebody who wouldnt support you in return. if he/ she can't return the favor to a equal amount, "Don't Waste Your Time" (one of my songs on my upcoming album titled Suit & Tie). the only exception i would make is one for the kids.

create your own circle of trustees and keep the head count to a diminutive number. you can have all the friends in the world, but out of of that large amount you can only count on 3 of them to support you.

thats all for now.

vol. 2 coming soon...
